Austin Gion is a postdoctoratal research assistant in the Department of Earth Sciences working collaboratively with O’Hare group since December 2023. He received his PhD in geology from the University of Maryland, USA in 2020 and subsequently completed a post-doctorate at ISTO at the Université d’Orléans, France. His primary research interests focus on economic geology and the recovery of metals from traditional and non-traditional sources. Austin’s current work with the group is focused on the recovery of metals from geothermal fluids using novel functional materials.
